“Hacking the Power” book

The idealization and organization of “Hacking the Power” book is by Panmela Castro. The unsigned texts are collectively authored by the NAMI, written by Fernanda do Vale, Maybel Sulamita, Panmela Castro, Laís Amorim and Adriana Mota; with the support of Artha Baptista, Carlos Gouté, Francine Mercês, Laís Silvéria and Luciene Lacerda. The individual texts were written by: 

Aline Motta
Aline Motta Visual artist who combines different techniques and artistic practices, mixing photography, video, installation, performance, sound art, collage, print and textile materials.
Amanda Carneiro
Amanda Carneirossistant curator at the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) and editor at Afterall Magazine. Master from the University of São Paulo (USP). She co-organized the Sonia Gomes catalog and exhibition at MASP.
Camilla Rocha Campos
Camilla Rocha CamposArtist, teacher and writer. Her work envisages collective systems that dismantle mechanisms of social and intellectual distinctions that insist on disproportionately operating hierarchies of power.
Carolina Schueler
Carolina SchuelerIntellectual property advisory and strategic advisor. He has experience in licensing agreements and technology transfer. Nominated as an IP Rising Star by the Managing Intellectual Property ranking.
Carollina Lauriano
Carollina Lauriano Graduated in Social Communication with emphasis in Journalism. She has an extension in Art, Design and Fashion Research at Central Saint Martins / UAL, working as an independent curator since 2017. In her research, she is interested in discussing the insertion, challenges and achievements of young women artists in the art market.
Gabi Ngcobo
Gabi NgcoboArtist, curator and educator. Since 2000 she has been engaged in artistic, curatorial and educational projects in South Africa. Ngcobo is a founding member of Nothing Gets Organized and the Center for Historical Reenactments. In May 2021 she was appointed as the Curatorial Director of Javett-UP.

Isabella Cardozo
Isabella CardozoAfter more than 20 years working specifically with Intellectual Property, Isabella assembled a management team made up of women only. She leads the Daniel Plural Program, which is based on the strategic management of Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability, with a focus on human rights.
Keyna Eleison
Keyna EleisonCurator, writer, researcher, narrator and singer. She is currently a columnist for Contemporary & Latin America magazine, a professor at Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (EAV).

Luciene Lacerda
Luciene LacerdaPsychologist, PhD in Education. She is the creator and member of the 21 days of activism against racism campaign, member of the coordination of Feminist Actions of the Búzios Institute, the State Forum of Black Women RJ and the Black Coalition for Rights.
Lyz Parayzo
Lyz ParayzoBrazilian sculptor who works with performance, jewelry and audiovisual. In 2019, she moved to Paris to start a specialization process at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts master's program.

Naine Terena
Naine TerenaShe is from the Terena people, mother, PhD in Education, master in arts, graduated in social communication. Specialization in Contemporary Cultural Management at Itaú Cultural Institution. She is the director of the Indigenous Ethnomedia exhibition and produces the Paraskeué podcast. She is a professor in the intercultural indigenous master's program at UNEMAT-MT.
Priscila Rooxo
Priscila RooxoVisual artist, educator and independent researcher, trained in Photography and Cultural History. She has been working for over twenty years with the organization of art and photography courses, books and exhibitions.

The NAMI is a non-profit organization that aims to use art as a vehicle for social transformation, we promote through our projects the rights of women, blacks, indigenous peoples, LGBTQIAP+ people and people with disabilities. The organization was created in 2010 as a result of the desire of its founder, artist Panmela Castro, to contribute to the end of violence against women and promote the role of women in the arts. NAMI carries out a groundwork, seeking to stimulate the leadership potential of groups marginalized by society in different areas, and is directly aligned with 3 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, to build a less unequal and more sustainable world.

Hacking Power: Guerrilla Tactics for Artists of the Global South is a manual with guerrilla tactics for young artists who want to enter the art market. From the practical and technical to the conceptual and subjective, the book discusses essential issues of our time – such as the fight against racism, inequalities, gender violence and LGBTQIAP+ phobia – from a decolonial perspective, and present ideas and means for young people can develop their careers and be in institutional art spaces.

Through the sharing of experiences, knowledge, stories and images, the volume aims to stimulate and propagate mutual collaboration going from individual achievement, structures are formed for all and beyond the following generations.

In this way, we add our knowledge to other collaborators, who prepare texts for a manual with guerrilla tactics for artists from the Global South, addressing arts and rights for girls and young women who dream of becoming artists, and wish to make a living from their work, sustaining their families and rewriting art history to transform the future.
